Thus, based on the teaching of Joshua, the modern servant-leadership paradigm may need to include four additional observations. First, above all else, the biblical, servant leader must serve God and follow his leadership. Joshua’s first order, as servant, was to follow Yahweh. The people of Israel recognized the importance of this, saying, “Just as we obeyed Moses in all things, so we will obey you; only may the LORD your God be with you as he was with Moses” (1:17).
